Professional Summary

Rebecca Farkas is a freelance arts marketer, writer and artist who grew up on travelling circuses in the UK and abroad. Having done everything from making popcorn to spotlight operator, box office manager, press officer and performer, she settled in Herefordshire and works in arts marketing for a range of arts organisations and charities.

 

Her projects include; 11 years as Marketing & Engagement Manager at Meadow Arts (an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation); project manager for international event, Ferrous Festival; working for award winning Canal & River Trust ‘Arts on the Waterways’ programme The Ring; writing articles for, and being part of the marketing team, at Hereford College of Arts; Marketing Manager for Arts Council England funded project The Curiosity Museum; marketing and social media campaigns for individual artists; social media and marketing for Rural Media; and working on Heritage Lottery Funded projects for Catcher Media and Everybody Dance.

 

Rebecca is currently a Regional Associate for the Arts Marketing Association and completed their Audience Diversity Academy mentorship programme in 2016.

A selection of recent projects.

2021 - current

Ferrous Festival

Project Manager for the third and fourth editions of the artist blacksmithing festival, including writing a successful funding bid to Arts Council England. Ferrous aims to put Hereford at the centre of metal forging practice in the UK and to engage and entertain visitors. The festival takes place across the city, in around 12 exhibitions/events spaces with international artists from diverse backgrounds and multiple partner organisations.

Rural Media

Marketing and social media campaigns for production company, Arts Council England NPO, and charity producing award-winning films and digital arts projects for the BBC, Channel 4, Sky Arts, BFI and many others.

2020 - present

Artist Support

Working with individual artists to support them with marketing strategy and support, often on Arts Council England funded projects.

2019 - present

Curiosity Museum

Marketing Manager on a series of projects for Equal Vision CIC, including award-winning careers programme, the Curiosity Museum.

Catcher Media

Marketing campaigns for Heritage Lottery Funded Herefordshire Life Through a Lens Project and for Catcher Media, an award winning media Community Interest Company.

Everybody Dance

Marketing campaigns  and project management for inclusive dance company Everybody Dance, including Our Man in the Moone, a performance and community engagement programme supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

2010 - 2021

Meadow Arts

Marketing Manager for eleven years, overseeing marketing and communications strategy, creating content, project and event management for this cutting edge contemporary visual arts charity and Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation, working with partner organisations including National Trust, English Heritage, museums, libraries, galleries and educational institutions .

2017 - 2019
Canal & River Trust - The Ring

Marketing Manager, project and events management for The Ring, an Arts on the Waterways project for Canal & River Trust. Winner of the Living Waterways Award 2019 for Arts, Culture & Events (large-scale), The Ring incorporated contemporary art, performance, public engagement and a riverside festival.

2010 - present

Hereford College of Arts

Initially part of the Marketing team, since going freelance I have undertaken exhibition marketing campaigns, contributed writing and editing to the Ferrous Festival and written a series of articles for the College.
